Remove Spout Instructions

Hello,

I saw the instructions to remove the spout: "first slide the spout bonnet up the spout and out of the way. Next slowly pry apart the spout retainer and remove it from the spout".

How exactly, should I pry apart the spout retainer? And, how should it be removed? Does it split open? Do I slide it up the spout?

Thanks.

Answer:
I would like to add that the spout is held in place with only the pressure of the spout over the base with pressure from the O rings. There are two O rings on the base about 1.5 inches apart and the spout is slid up or down (depending if you are removing or replace the spout) over these. It took two of us pulling to separate the base from the spout as it had been there for 11 years and the O rings were dry and leaking. It easily went back on over the new O rings. Replaced the two O rings and it no longer leaks around the base. Good luck.

Answer:
Hi David,

Thank you for your question. The white plastic retainer has a split in it. On the inside of the retainer is a tab that inserts into a slot on the spout body. To remove the retainer, pull it apart at the split until you are able to remove the tab from the slot on the spout. You can then slide the retainer up and off of the spout.

Best regards,
Jon

How do I remove the spout hose and are any special tools required?

I need to remove the spout hose from my 172 waterfall while performing some kitchen repairs. I have the wrench to re-install the nut on faucet assembly, but need to know how to properly dis-assemble the spout hose from the faucet.

Answer:
Hi Steve,

Thank you for your question! To remove the spout, first slide the sleeve up the spout to reveal the spout retainer. Remove the spout retainer clip by pulling it apart slightly at the gap in the ring. You can then swivel the spout back and forth as you lift up to remove it.

Jon

Which cam & packing should be used?

172, 174 Waterfall Series, which cam and packing should be used? RP61 with the little spring in it. So prior 2002 units with adjusting rings should all use this RP61, and remove the top adjusting ring?

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your question! The RP61 is the correct cam assembly for your faucet. The adjusting ring should not be used with the current version of the RP61.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for your question! All of our parts are pre-lubricated at the factory. You will not need to apply any extra lubrication for a water-tight seal.

How to remnove the spout hose

My 172 faucet is leaking from the base of the spout. It looks like I need to remove the spout to get at the O-rings to replace them. The spout hose has the quick connect coupler, and I don't know how to remove the hose from the spout.

Answer:
Hi Bob, Thank you for your question. To remove the spout on the model 172-WHWF you will first slide the spout bonnet up the spout and out of the way. Next slowly pry apart the spout retainer and remove it from the spout. At this point the spout can be lifted off and removed. Here is a link to the parts breakdown for your model to help with the repair.

Cleaning or replacing diverter?

Customer avatar

Hastings, MN 55033, USA
The sprayer hose on 174-WHWF kitchen doesn't work. Everything points to a problem with the diverter, but I can't get to it. Technical specs for this faucet show it behind the "sleeve." How do I remove the sleeve to get to the diverted?

Answer:
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. To get to the diverter first loosen the set screw in the handle, remove the handle. Next unscrew the cap. Remove the cam and packing, and ball assembly. You should now be able to grasp the sleeve and pull it off, there are no threads. This will give you access to the diverter. Just go through the inside of the valve body and pop it out using your allen wrench. Hope this solves your problem.
Thanks,
Dave
