The finish on the drain plug for my metal pop-up assembly is tarnishing, what should I do?
For all Metal Pop-Up assemblies manufactured after 1997 you will have to replace the drain flange and stopper. The part number for the stopper is RP5648. You would then attach the appropriate finish suffix to the part number. With no suffix the part will be chrome. The drain flange part number is RP23060. The flange unscrews from the rest of the pop up assembly.
For all Metal Pop-Up assemblies manufactured before 1997 you may need to replace the entire pop-up assembly. The stopper is still available and is a part number RP5648. The drain flange was a part number RP6126. The chrome drain flange is still available but the other finishes are not. If you have another finish you will have to replace the entire drain assembly.

What is a Brilliance® finish?
If your faucet has a Polished Brass, Pearl Nickel or Stainless finish, you have a Brilliance® finish. Developed with a patented process using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Brilliance® molecules are embedded deep into the faucet's surface, creating a bond that is virtually indestructible. Some Delta® faucets have a split finish, which includes two finishes, usually chrome and one of the above Brilliance® finishes. For more information on Brilliance® finishes, see Finishes in the Buyers Guide section of the website.

What makes a Brilliance® finish unique?
Delta's Brilliance® finishes are more durable than traditional clear coating. These beautiful finishes, which give your home an instant decorator look, won't corrode, tarnish or discolor. They are designed to look like new for life. The finish was tested against more than 100 common household cleaners. Brilliance will even withstand prolonged exposure to hard water or sea air.

Why do I have pin holes in my spout?
Pin holes in a Delta faucet spout are usually caused by "dezincification," which is the removal of zinc from the brass due to salt solutions, brackish water, mildly acidic solutions and poorly grounded plumbing systems. When the zinc is removed, the copper is redeposited to these areas and the surface of the part. The redeposited copper is a weak mass that is porous and fragile.
If this has happened, you will need to replace the spout. To determine the spout part number for your faucet model, contact your Delta plumber or showroom, or e-mail us.
-
Why is my Polished Brass tarnishing or peeling?
Traditional Polished Brass finishes were coated with a clear coating to inhibit tarnish. Over time, this clear coat can be broken or scratched with regular wear and tear, abuse or chemical attack, causing the finish to tarnish or the coating to peel. Unfortunately, it's not possible to repair the clear coat so you will need to replace any parts of your faucet that are tarnished or badly scratched.

Why is the finish deteriorating on my faucet's spout, handles and aerator?
Normally, finish deterioration is due to years of wear and tear, abuse or chemical attack. There is no repair once the finish is damaged, however you can replace many of common faucet parts where the finish deterioration is most noticeable.
To determine the parts you need, contact your Delta plumber or showroom. You can e-mail us for assistance, or call 1-800-345-DELTA (3358).
